This perennially controversial civil war epic is still making tidal waves more than a century after its original release. Directed by silent film supremo D. W. Griffith and starring acting legend Lillian Gish alongside a proverbial cast of thousands, this is the perfect opportunity for you to see what all the fuss – and acclaim – is about.
This really is one of the finest Blu-ray packages ever, bar none. No previous version, since the film’s original release, even comes close. Its recent lengthy and costly restoration was one of the most extensive ever, and you can read all read all about it here from the man responsible, Patrick Stanbury of Photoplay Productions. What’s more, The Birth of a Nation 2-disc set is packed to the gills with other restored period films, also all in crystal clear HD.
