It’s time for Brenton Film’s first giveaway and we’re kicking thing off in style with a great Lubitsch in Berlin: Fairytales, Melodramas and Sex Comedies, 1918–1921 6-DVD box set!
It contains six of the best films that made Ernst Lubitsch Germany’s top director, before he left for Hollywood and even greater international success:
- Ich möchte kein Mann sein/I Don’t Want to Be a Man (1918)
- Die Puppe/The Doll (1919)
- Die Austernprinzessin/The Oyster Princess (1919)
- Sumurun/One Arabian Night (1920)
- Anna Boleyn/Deception (1920)
- Die Bergkatze/The Wildcat (1921)
In addition it contains the feature length documentary Ernst Lubitsch in Berlin: From Schönhauser to Hollywood (2006), with recollections from Lubitsch’s daughter and his niece plus input from many leading silent film experts. There are also liner notes for all six films.
